Sammy Joyce at
Lewis & Clark College!
We asked some of our former students to report back about their college experience so far. Sammy is our highlight for January! Here's what she has to say about her campus.
What do you like about Lewis & Clark?
"Some things I'm really loving about college are the friends I have made this year, and the classes I'm taking. I really enjoy being at a small liberal arts college because the class sizes make me feel much more connected to the professors. Also, Lewis and Clark has an art center called the "Platteau" which is connected to my dorm and my friends and I go there all the time to paint or draw or play music and it's one of my favorite parts of this campus."
Fun fact you’ve learned about Lewis & Clark?
"AA fun fact about Lewis and Clark is that the dining hall is referred to as "the bon""
What are you majoring in?
" Right now I'm considering double majoring in English and Studio Art. Im currently taking a Ceramics class which I am loving, and I'm also taking a Shakespeare class which has been very demanding but I find really interesting. Outside of classes, three of my close friends and I all have our own radio show! Every thursday we have a one hour time slot with the student run radio station where we get to play music and anyone can listen, and it's been really fun!!"
What are you doing on the weekends?
"On weekends it's very easy and fun to go into Downtown Portland or a neighborhood called Sellwood where we go often to go thrifting and get food. The hiking trails right next to campus are a beautiful place to go as well."
What is something that surprised you
about Lewis & Clark?
"Something that has surprised me is how close I've gotten to some of my friends and to my roommates already. I know this is not the case for everyone but I was worried about not finding people I connected with right away, and I feel really lucky to have actually had that experience!"
What did UniVarsity Help You With?
"Univarsity helped me so much in my college decision process because I would not have known about Lewis and Clark without them, and I'm so grateful to have ended up here! Their help with writing every essay was monumentally helpful as well."
