Q & A

Q. Is there still time for seniors to re-take the SAT or ACT?

A. Yes, it is fine for seniors to take standardized tests in the fall. For most colleges, students can take the SAT or ACT up until December of senior year. However, different schools have different dates, so it’s best to check on the individual school web-site for the last test date they will accept.

Q. I heard that some schools don’t require the SAT or ACT. Is this true?

A. Yes, many schools are moving to “test optional” signifying their belief that standardized tests are not necessarily the best predictor of college success. An organization called FairTest.org maintains a comprehensive list of “test optional” schools. Colleges do change their policies often, so it is a good idea to check the website of each college to determine their current policy.
