Seniors – What To Do in June
Congrats to seniors and senior parents! Your child’s high school career is coming to a close.
Our last piece of advice for students is–if they haven’t already done so–write thank you notes to people who have helped them reach their goals, such as counselors and teachers who have written their letters of recommendation. The recipients of these letters will be so appreciative because they don’t often get thank you letters and they will want to know the student’s final plans. Other than that, we hope your child has a great summer and that the most stressful thing she/he has to do is agonize over which duvet cover she/he wants for her/his dorm bed!
Parents, while we know you are excited about your child going off to college, there is a lot of emotion that goes along with this transition. Here are two books we often recommend to parents of seniors. The first is Letting Go: A Parents’ Guide to Understanding the College Years by Coburn and Treeger and the second is The Happiest Kid on Campus: A Parent’s Guide to the Very Best College Experience (For You and Your Child), by Harlan Cohen.
